Kenyan Senator Gloria Orwoba who attended The Invictus games in Germany pushed for Kenya wounded soldiers to join the Invictus community. She also raised an issue on period poverty which was a common issue with Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. Meghan is a humanitarian and has worked with organizations including World Vision, the United Nations, One Young World Vision and Myna Mahila Foundation to achieve equality for women worldwide. Meghan Markle in 2017 worked on how periods affect potential and the stigmatization that comes with it. She also reviewed on how the period poverty affect education to young girls. In the year 2021, inspired by Meghan Markle in honor of her 40th birthday, the Sussex squad raised over $57000 dollars for Myna Mahila, a Charity based in India that provides sanitary towels for girls. Speaking to Nairobi News, Senator Gloria Orwoba hinted on the partnership with Meghan Markle on the campaign to end period poverty. “We have rescheduled to meet Meghan. She runs a program on period poverty, so that is the connecting point.” Gloria said.
