Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are traveling to Nigeria! The country’s Chief of Defense Staff, the highest-ranking military official, has extended an invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to visit in May, PEOPLE confirms.
Harry, 39, will visit the United Kingdom the following week to take part in several events organized by the Invictus Games Foundation to commemorate the game’s tenth anniversary. One such event is a May 8 service at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral. Meghan, 42, will follow him to Nigeria shortly. The couple will meet with service members and engage in a range of cultural events while they are here.
Harry’s Invictus Games, which welcomed 500 athletes to its event last year, will be the focus of the visit. Nigeria was among the twenty-one countries present, including Germany. Nigeria, Israel, and Colombia were the new competitors at the previous year’s Invictus Games.
Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru, the Minister of Defense, who was present at the German event last year, has stated that if Nigeria is given the chance, he would be happy to host the games. The Acting Director of Defence Information for Nigeria, Brig Gen Tukur Vusau, stated in a statement: “The visit is to consolidate Nigeria’s stronghold at the game and the possibility of hosting the event in later years.” This visit has led to some hateful statements from the UK press definitely because they have been focusing on how much they are waiting for Prince Harry during the 10th anniversary in London which is going to happen on the 8th of May and finally, they got confirmation from Harry that he will be present but Duchess Meghan will not be around and now the fact that Harry together with Meghan also confirmed their visit to Nigeria, they reaction is also wild as the mail questions if Meghan would first accompany Harry to the UK.
The Invictus Games announced early on Sunday morning that Prince Harry will be present at the special tenth-anniversary service on May 8th in London. Contrary to reports that he would skip or only make a virtual appearance, he will be spending a few hours on Isla de Saltines. The Nigerian government surprisingly announced later on Sunday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had accepted an invitation to visit the country in May, which was humorous. Harry’s brief visit to the UK will probably be followed right away by their journey to Nigeria.
Since the news broke, the British media, as you can imagine, has been fuming and waving their salty racist flags. The headline “NON-WORKING ROYALS Harry and Meghan will tour Commonwealth nation Nigeria” in The Daily Mail seemed to be a slight to the Sussexes. The salty island has been so keen and bitter on the same. They can’t allow Harry and Meghan to make their decisions and now they feel so entitled to drag them along.
