The Duke and Duchess of Sussex surprised everyone on Tuesday night at the Jamaican premiere of Bob Marley: One Love. The evil British media was asleep, so for hours, fans of Sussex were sulking on social media, basking in the positive energy. The sh-tstorm started as soon as the royal reporters saw the photos when they awoke. I wrote about the Mail’s hilarious coverage yesterday, where they were increasingly indignant about how “insensitive” it was for William and Kate to pose for pictures with the prime minister who fired them live on television. It gets better, though. In a hilarious piece for The Mail, Sarah Vine argued that Meghan and Harry ought to lose their titles since they attended Bob Marley’ One Love in Jamaica.

“Vine is mad that Meghan isn’t ageing like milk: When I saw the pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the premiere of the Bob Marley movie in Kingston, Jamaica, the first thing that sprang to mind was how thoroughly refreshed they both looked. Indeed, I had to do a double-take to make sure it really was the duchess that Prince Harry was escorting and not some dewy, doe-eyed lookalike. Perhaps it was just a trick of the light, but she certainly seems to have upped her skincare routine since we last saw her.
Vine is mad that Harry has the money to sue the Mail: The prince, meanwhile, looked remarkably unfurrowed for a man who looks likely to have to pay three quarters of a million pounds in legal costs accrued by his failed libel action against the Mail on Sunday. No word in public about the king’s health!! All that gloss doesn’t hide the ugly fact that the pair – normally so vocal when it comes to informing the world of their heartfelt sentiments – have yet to say a single word in public on the subject of Harry’s father, the King, and his health issues.”
The British media was informed by royal sources, or the palace communications team, that Harry and Meghan had communicated with Charles and Kate and perhaps even sent them some well-wishes for a speedy recovery. Really, that’s all they can do, isn’t it? Although the media is desperate for Harry to return to the UK, neither Charles nor William are at all interested in that. The left-behind Windsors refuse to acknowledge that they were mistaken to discard the Sussexes, despite the fact that they are being crushed by the intense spotlight they have so desperately sought for decades. What else are Harry and Meghan able to do but go about their lives and prosper? Ah, therein lies the problem – it’s not that Prince Harry and Meghan didn’t issue statements about anyone’s health, it’s that they are thriving.
